[Joaquin just looks at Kirk--steady despite the surprise he feels, that the man would understand his devotion to his people and help him get to them before he takes out the Vulcan. It would, perhaps, be more expedient for him to use Joaquin to get to him, and it would accomplish much the same end--the pointy-eared bastard dead and Joaquin's people freed, and Joaquin wouldn't begrudge him that. But the order matters.

This is a man worth following. Joaquin's first loyalty will always be to Khan, but perhaps...

An alliance is not out of the question. He's been told, the status their kin holds in this time and place. They're outnumbered, and will need time to adjust and learn.

It won't be his place to decide, but what he can do is give Khan his opinion.]
