one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing. whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands. it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying. is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you. you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing. kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging. did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting. the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling. sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

Jim, I've been puttin' up with you for the past four years. If I've earned anything, it'd have to be a commendation or something. [ Though truthfully he'd admit that Jim's friendship was enough of a reward in and of itself. He's never had anything like it, a person who believes in him just as much as he believes in them. Someone that's seen the worst of him, seen him at his lowest, and but still chooses to stick around.

He honestly doesn't know what he'd do without him. And he's glad he didn't have to find out. His lips curl into a soft, barely-there smile at the comment about the pool and the question. ]

Yeah. Last night, before she went to bed. 'Bout talked my ear off when I asked her how her field trip went the other day. Never thought a hike through the state park could be so damn excitin', but she was just beside herself. [ He chuckles a little bit at that, his smile widening fondly at the memory before he leans in to blow on the broth again. Then he adds, ]

She asked about you, too, you know. How things were goin'.

[ Jim offers a rusty chuckle from deep in his chest at that comment. He rocks a bit when Bones settles beside him on the couch, and leans forward to pick up the bowl of soup. He cradles it close to his chest a few long moments, whether he's just soaking up the warmth of it or collecting himself for the possibly daunting task of eating---who knows?

While he's waiting to muster that energy up, he listens as his friend tells him how his little girl is doing lately. It's always good to hear about her, and see the change that comes over his best friend that only Joanna can bring. ] I bet they found a lot of interesting things. If she got a kick out of that, we'll have to see if Sulu will send her holos of his gardens.

[ He finally manages to get a spoonful of soup, and blows on it before he eats it. ]

Ah, she doesn't need to worry about me. I've got the best doctor in the galaxy taking care of me.

[ His smile grows a little wider at Jim's suggestion, before he takes the spoon and raises it to his lips for a taste. It's still there when he pulls away, but in eyes rather than across his face. ]

I'm sure she'd love that. [ He answers, lifting another spoonful of soup from his bowl before looking across at Jim, looking more relaxed than he's ever been in a long time. And that wasn't just because of the conversation topic. ] I'll bring it up to him next time I see him.

[ He ducks his head a bit at the next part, though, as if hunching over his bowl and forcing soup in his mouth is going to make him seem less flattered by the compliment. (In his head, it does.) He huffs softly. ]

Butterin' me up isn't going to get out of PT faster, you know.

You know she would. [ He says, and takes another bit of soup himself. He's so exhausted every day, but today it feels even worse. He knows it is for a good reason, but still.

It is nice, though, to see his best friend more relaxed today. It's been tough on everyone. Even if he seems suddenly embarrassed by the compliment. ]
