[And now SHIELD is much less of a thing, but still has eyes and ears, and they need to stay away from them. Natasha knew how to disappear, but she found herself not wanting to. At least, not completely.
The farm was compromised. She felt the angry twist in her gut--someone has betrayed the trust Clint gave them, and while she might be a liar and a killer, she has been trying, so hard, to leave that behind. She hasn't outright betrayed anyone in years.
She doesn't think Ross would be so bold as to go after a civilian family, but she doesn't trust authority figures much anymore.
Well, I'm free for the foreseeable future. I'll be there asap to help corral the kids.
While covering her tracks, of course. It'll be a couple hours.
She shows up riding a bike--purchased, not stolen, paid cash off Craigslist, practically untraceable and will definitively be once she's done with it--with a rucksack tied to the back carrying only the barest essentials.]
[ Clint is helping lug bags and boxes into the truck when she comes up. They don't have a lot of time, and he's got savings put aside for the occasion but he never wanted this. ]
Get in line. I heard Cap gave him a real good kicking before busting us out, though. [ A beat and he takes a minute to look her over. She looks good, despite the circumstances. ]
You can help the kids get their stuff. I gotta dig into the emergency funds real quick.
[neither did she. It's a lot easier for her to disappear, she doesn't have a wife and kids to consider, and she knows how to remake herself from the ground up. Living life as a normal person is...well, infuriating is a word, but it's possible. She's done long undercover missions before...it can't be that different.]
Pretty sure the reasons were different.
[All things considered, she got off easy. Tony warned her, she left. She hadn't even gotten too banged up in the fight, even if her back is still a little sore and bruised from Wanda smacking her into things.]
What's the plan?
[She knows he has contingencies--they always do. But she's pretty sure all of them were predicated on not being a fugitive from the U.S. government, if not the United Nations.]
Found out what the Winter Soldier did to his family, it's a tough thing to swallow, but Barnes didn't do it. Stark tried to kill him.
[ Steve told him after he asked what happened when he showed up looking like hell warmed over. Wanda went with Sam and Steve. Scott went home as far as he knows. ]
I'm thinking out of the country. I hear Canada is nice.

Next time I see Stark, I'm going to kick him.
[She told him to watch his back.]
